Need slabbing advice

Last night while at my brother's house, my sister-in-law said she had something I asked them to hold about 10 years ago. It was a 1992 Silver Eagle $1. I don't remember giving it to them, but I spose I did. The coin itself has no scratches or rubs, only a minting gouge on the dress on the obverse. It isnt big, 2 small spots. ANYHOO, being new to the hobby and not having anything of great value (aside from sentimental), I have nothing slabbed and have never attempted to get anything slabbed. For sake of keeping the coin in the condition it is now in, should I consider slabbing this one? I'm not concerned with value, as it will all probably be passed on to future generations as it is.
All input is appreciated. I tried to take pics to give as much info as possible, but without the proper set-up they came out blurry.

Put it in a nicer type holder if you want to keep it nice!

Thanks again
also, they sell little intercept shields (little square) for ASEs,etc for like 3 for $3 or so a BK, I guess they have the ability to protect vs. toning somewhat ?
Just a thought.
