How much faith do you put in these eBay auctions advertising pre 1964 proof sets as unopened? Is it for real or are they opening them and resealing them in unused envelopes from that era?

I have a few of them that I have purchased and I am debating as to opening them or not.

Is my greenish color that obvious?

It just means that they currently are not opened.

It's always the same group of sellers that have these. You just go to a printer and have a bunch of envelopes printed, stuff some proof sets inside and seal them and the nice people on eBay will pay a fortune.

"Unopened" proof sets are one of the biggest scams on eBay.

They first open the proof sets, then they unopen them and then they sell them.

There are some genuinely unopened 1964 sets listed right now, though. Came from an original box of 50 and listed in groups of five. I'd tell you who has them, but I don't need the extra competition.
