1950 Proof Set. Clean or not?

I inherited a 1950 proof set from my step-father. The set is in a plastic holder. It has some dark and ugly toning. I'm not even sure if it's natural toning or the result of being dipped in the past. I won't dip the coins myself. Should I leave it alone or would it be worth it to send it into NCS for their professional restoration? I'd like to enjoy the set and to enjoy it, it has to look good. Any opinions? Thanks.
