A question for the Ebay sellers

I plan on selling 29 game used cards of Kobe Bryant on Ebay shortly but i can't decide if i should sell as a lot and put a reserve on them or to sell them seperatly.

What do you guys think i'd be better off doing ?

Any help would be appreciated

Dave

Dave, I am not a huge seller but I would list them seperatly. The Kobe collector out there might already have a bunch of the cards you would be selling. If you put them all in one lot you would most likely loose their bids if they only needed certain cards. Just my thought.

I agree. If it were fewer cards, a lot might be the way to go. 29 seperate auctions might be a pain to load if you don't have a program to help you out...but I would guess that you'll do better with individual auctions.

Without question, list them all separately. You'll make probably 100-300% more in terms of sales, I'd wager.
  • Thank you for the replies fellas !!
  • Agreed on individual listings, but don't even consider a reserve. If you want a certain price, just start it at that price, and it more likely will sell, then meet the reserve later. Also I believe it costs less, by doing it this way.

You would always think that selling items individually would make you more money, but this isn't always the case:

I had 25 PSA 8 1972 Topps........listed them all individually at $5.00 starting bid ( which is about the going price for commons)..........I sold five of them at the mininum $5. Listing fees = $8.75 for $25.00 in sales

I had noticed that "lots" of PSA 8 1972 Topps cards were selling well. ( people figuring on saving on S/H)......so two weeks later I put the remaining 20 PSA 8s plus five others up for auction ( 25 card lot) ( .99 starting price) This "lot" sold for $130.50. Listing fee = $.35 for $130.50 in sales.

In this case I will stick with the "lots"

...but I think you have to know the "market" of what you are selling....

I think it depends on the value of the Kobe game used cards. If they are low value cards (less than $20), you may be better off as a lot. If they are high dollar - over $100 - list individually. Anything in between is a crap shoot.

The only issue with listing all 29 individually is that you add up the listing, ebay, and paypal fees. You will end up paying the highest ebay FVF % because it is calculated on a per item basis.

I would group the lower value cards as a lot and sell the high dollar ones individually.

  • Definately individually. The audience that will be looking at them are mostly made up from the 12-25 age bracket, and you dont want to shut out 3/4's of them because they dont have the cash on hand to bid on the whole lot. Alot of the younger crowd would gladly hand over top dollar per card since they put a Beckett value on thier collection as opposed to "actual" value. Just my 2 cents in the field of marketing.........

I would list the more expensive cards individually.

Also consider spreading out the individual listings. Nothing sucks more for a player collector than having 10 high $ cards hit the bay at the same time. Spread the top dollar items out for more action.
