for the princely sum of $9.00. Tell me what you think.
I bought it primarily for the cent, but after looking at the other coins they are just as nice. The plastic flat pack is of the thicker, sturdier plastic variety intead of the thinner type. I have seen the thicker plastic sets which have "United States Special Mint Set" embossed on the horizontal band that separates the half and quarter from the other three coins.
In this case the thicker palsctic has done a great job preserving the coins. The cent is fiery orange with smooth even fields, a strong strike, only a couple of minor ticks and a single pinpoint sized carbon spot on the reverse. Compared to other 65 SMS cents I have seen this one blows them away. I would guess a grade of MS66 or 67. The dime and nickel are just as nice as the cent. The quarter and half are not quite as nice due to some light haze.
Most non cameo SMS sets make me yawn. Not this one. When I saw it my cherry picking juices started flowing.
Does anyone know what 66 or 67 1965 SMS cents, nickels and dimes go for?

Where are the pics?

I can almost picture it, but I'd say the cent is a MS65.
The nickel MAY go cameo.

Only a few years back finding clean undamaged cents was quite easy but the last ten years
has been murder on these.
Most of the post-64 sets exist in disproportionate numbers with all gem coins. Even dates which
should be statistically improbable due to the scarcity of gems can show up much more than would
be predicted. This does not apply to the '65 set. I've never seen one of these with all top notch
coins. The only other one which doesn't seem to appear is the '80-D.
The cents have always been the toughest coin in this set to find in top grade and is rare in cameo.
The dime is very underappreciated. It's not only hard to find in top grades but in lower grades can
be tough as well. The half dollar is the prize because of the demand and DCAM's are scarce.

It is a great easy FREE software package that will let you crop and re-size your photos. It will take you 5 minutes to find/dopwnload/install it, and that many more to learn to use it.
My disclaimer, but I have seen a few sell for that.
