The local wannabe coin shop ( actually a music shop ) never has much that is of interest so I usually don't bother stopping. Stopped in today and they have hundreds of Franklin halves for $3.50 each ( plus 0.24 tax). would you snap them up?

Go with the above if you want to make soup out of them
OTOH, if you wanna pick up smoe silver at melt, seems like a good way. Here in CA, if you buy over $1000 worth, it's free of sales tax - check your local rules on this.

typos abound eh dude?
Actually, "smoe" is quite intentional. I caught it here on the forum, but it actually dates back to early AOL chatrooms.
Moreover, bouillion is a soup base, while bullion refers to precious metals. Although I suppose one could possibly make a bullion boullion.
Since I wasn't sure that you created a typo, versus just used the wrong word, I poked a little gentle fun.
I apologise (British spelling, BTW) for any insult taken - none intended.
Just havin' fun.

A pharmacy is not normally in the business of buying and selling coins. You could have a fight on your hands.
Better to have legitimately a separate business of buying and selling coins. But what you save in sales tax you give up in having your sales no longer being exempt from self employment tax/ medicare tax on your profits. Definite tradeoffs.
See your accountant. Hopefully he is a CPA. But don't bother him until after 4/18/2006 and he will thank you.
yeah, I know , I am a chef, it was a typo, I thought you were just thinking of food and meant a "smore"
no harm, no foul......
The answer- the amount I paid- I pay the sales tax- not the seller.
