Where the heck does pcgs get its price guide prices from?

I just noticed in my world series portfolio my ms67 77-d cents went down $600 to $575. What?! There are only 18, the last two of which I got graded and I sold the duplicate for $1400. I know the whereabouts of all of them, no others have sold recently. Where do they come up with this?!

World Series material ?

Coin which trade maybe once every 2-3 years show increases or decreases. How is that possible?
As someone said, price change for the sake of price change.

Yep! But I already have all of the undervalued ones. $1,000,000 goes a long way...
My understanding is that they call Marty and Russ, and then use the higher guess.

Your just overcharging. Follow the guide and I'll buy all of my coppers off you
Come on everyone, coin grading and coin value is SUBJECTIVE. That means each of us has his or her own opinion. Learn to live with that. It is a fact of life. It is also a fact of life that any given coin is worth what a willing buyer and a willing seller agree that it is worth.
The coin guides, and I believe PCGS is now trying to improve its product, will provide the reader with an approximation of current value. I personally feel all these guides would be worth more to the public if we had two values associated with each coin. A low value representing what dealers reasonably pay for coins for inventory and a high value representing what the current PCGS guide is trying to present.

I've just sold a couple of PCGS graded coins............where do you report such sales?
Gee................something no-body has ever discussed! Is there something on the PCGS website that explains how to submit your sales?

Enron went under so can this hobby, great question who sets the value of coins in the price guides? The answer is the little weasel laughing on his way to the bank. TY
