Should this be a 9?

I normally don't get into this sort of thing, but this just does not look like a 9 to me:

Davey

There's chipping around the entire card, plus the top right and lower left corners appear to be touched.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

Ugh! I've got a PSA 7 Concepcion Rookie that looks better than that one. I assume they are making allowances for the rough cut giving the appearance of worn corners on that one. Scans can be deceiving and magnify small problems with cards, however. I think if I was going for that card in a 9, I'd have to pass on that one.

I've never understood the grading on those high grade 71's. That top right corner looks very worn to me, and in most cases the edges always seem to have a lot of chipping even in high grade. Is that just a staple of the issue like rough cuts on OPC? I've never had a high grade 71, the best I've done is a 7, which did look worse than this Concepion...but is much, much nicer than 90% of the 6's I see...
