Question for Baltimore natives

My wife wants to go to the Balt Musem of Art. I see it's about 3 miles up Charles St from the Convention Center. She wants to walk it. Is it a safe route during the day?
(now I sound like Longacre, don't I?)

It is as 'safe' as anywhere in Baltimore.

Personally, I would take a cab rather than walk 3 miles and take a chance.

Its a bit of a hike. I'd take a cab. It is safe though. Take Pratt St. and go straight up Charles. These are very major, busy streets. No one should try to mug you in such a busy area during the day.

Easiest, quickest, and safest to just take a cab, it's kind of far and some of the route is sucky neighborhoods. Check out the Walter's Gallery also, it's even closer. Link

While in Baltimore you should also partake in some Duckpin Bowling It's much more challenging than 10 Pin (big ball and pins) in it's 70+ year history there has never been a perfect game of 300 thrown. Baltimore used to have over 100 Duckpin bowling centers, I'm sure its much less these days, alas.

I suggested a cab, too, but she likes walking, as long as it's not raining or snowing. It's also a way to kill an hour until the museum opens at 11 AM. I'll pass along the Walters info. Thanks.

Walk around the inner Harbor area for a few miles, look at boats, then cab--no, it's NOT safe, there are a lot of young punks that hustle and flow to the harbor to shop and rob. She'll see them on the walk--especially if alone without men.
