How many people here read "coins" magazine right now?

Or do you have any opinion about how good or how lame they are/might be? image

all that stuff that comes from Iola, WI is the same - you only need 1 subscription
I like their Coin Prices -> less stories but more complete prices -> all US instead of just that was around after 1900

A good magazine for the new collector.

Not so sure about the guns but otherwise I agree. image

Coins is OK but I like CoinAge better, I like their "coin capsule" column. Both magazines are somewhat lame though.

I used to read Coins and Coinage, but I like Coin Values better.
Their making the grade series is better concentration on a particular series.

Most of the articles are similar- Beginer intermediate collector stuff.

I read it on occasion if I see it at Barnes and Noble and a particular article catches my eye.

I think the magazine could use an editorial makeover. Mr. Green is a knowledgeable writer but his
writing style tends to make what should be interesting articles very predictable and formula like in its
    presentation.

Mike Thorme (sp?) is more interesting as he tends to put his personal experiences into what he is
writing about in a more readable and less formal format.

I read it at the library; I never found it to be good enough to warrant a subscription.

Personally I was unimpressed by both the quality and content of both Coins and Coinage. I felt they were geared much more towards the beginning collector. I do read Numismatic News though.
  • Occasionally they have a very good article on a particular coin or series.

Only when they are passed out free at a coin show.

I read that along with CoinWorld. Some interesting stuff can be found in those.
