UPDATED--ANACS Customer Service Unresponsive- Graders Blind

I am not an ANACS basher.

In fact, I have always liked them a great deal.

But, I emailed them ten days ago and asked for advice on how to correct a problem:

I have a very scarce date AU Barber coin in an older ANACS holder that has some sizeable globs of green PVC on it.

Still, I have not heard back from them.

Yes, I know that they are moving, but that is no excuse. The average Joe would not know they are moving right now.

If nothing else , there should be an automated email response stating that,"We have received your communication and will respond when time allows."

There should be an announcement on their website that they are moving on such and such dates.

The new ANACS is certainly not starting off on the right foot!

Email is not always the best way to solve a problem. If you really want help, call.

P.S. Three months ago I emailed David Hall regarding a series of service issues, and have not heard back from him. image
  • Someone just had a thread up wondering why NGC over ANACS. Does anybody remember when NGC moved from NJ to FL? Most people don't even know they were even in NJ at one time.

I don't see any of us here becoming ANACS bashers. I see us just flat out not paying any attention to them.

What LucyBop says.......more PCGS for me.......

  • Maybe they are too busy working on their marketing campaign to answer email, phones, do grading...etc.

I called them on the phone with a question a few days ago. I had an answer in 60 secs. Why email? It's a toll-free call.

I sent a message to customer service about replacing a broken slab 3 weeks ago and still have not heard from them. I hope my current ANACS submission fairs better.

Probably because the majority of life now takes place online, whether shopping shipping surfing or even dating.image If a business wants to keep up with the pack customer service-wise, they need to treat emails and web inquiries with the same respect as a phone call.

email gets blocked by spam blockers and other things

Nah....David's a smart guy....he recognized your email alias and the email got spam-canned image

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

  • I have not tried to e-mail ANACS. I HAVE sent numerous e-mails to PCGS over the years and I do not think I have ever received a response, except when I e-mailed BJ Searles regarding registry stuff. E-mailing customer service depts. usually does not get you anywhere...IMO.

Isn't IdahoGal working in CS for them?
  • To be fair to ANACS, I wanted to update this thread.

I sent an email directly to James taylor and got a quick response.

Basically he say's, "Yes, PVC is covered under the ANACS guarantee, and send the coin to us and will will see if PVC removal is feasible."image

  • Geeze, I am afraid for ANACS. I sent the coin in question, there is no doubt in my mind that the coin has PVC on it. I even told them exactly where to look (stars two thru five).

    I got this response:

"I just wanted to let you know we received your coin and our grading staff has determined there is no PVC on the coin, only beautiful, natural toning. We will be shipping it back to you right away. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to call me or e-mail me.

I think I am done with ANACS now.

I will try to get some decent pix to post of the contamination when I get the coin back.

That's why they have no time to answer e-mails or grade coins. Everyone working there is reholdering the mistakes.

  • ANACS had a great chance to move up the TPG ranks with their new slab... All they had to do was market the new slab as "tighter graded"... perception would have changed... they would have gained market share....

Instead, a key grader leaves.... you have a slab you can crack open with your hands and customer service that doesn't care..... If I owned ANACS, Taylor would be gone.

    I'm done with them...

I'm not sure why you are certain it's PVC. Natural toning does in fact occur in a green color --rarely- (in fact it's a colr the doctors have trouble duplicating)--Any "goobs" though, do sound more like crystaline PVC as you suggest. Look forward to picts--

You can place a coat and tie on a monkey, but you still have a monkey.
    .
I was nauseated when many people were talking about how great ANACS was going to be, because of this and that. I was turned off when James Taylor showed me the new slab with an MS68 Morgan in it. If you are going to show off the new slab, you should place a properly graded coin in it. All along, IMO, it was going to remain the same if not going to decline. It's like to old adage: "The more things change, the more they stay the same."

It sounds like they did not have a very sound plan for moving while maintaining standard business operations. It will be sad if they slip out of the top tier because of mismanagement issues right now....

So, if anacs is a monkey, what is pcgs and ngc? image

I was and am highly impressed with their new holder. Unfortunately, I am even more UNIMPRESSED with their attribution skills and customer service. I've posted about the attribution part several times, now I'll rant about the other problem.

My latest (and LAST) submission is over two weeks late-understandable, given the circumstances of the move, etc. But when I called and merely wanted to know if they had received my coins, they COULD'NT TELL ME even a simple thing like that! They said they'd call me back-not that day they said but didn't specify when-needless to say, no call has ever been received.
