I don't know.. maybe it's just me, but it doesn't look very well centered. Also, somone must REALLY want this card to have bid it up that high. What's it book for raw? ... $20 max?

ALWAYS Looking for Chris Sabo cards!

I would pay much more than that for a '75 Schmidt PSA 10
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

Actually three people must really want it as three different people have bids over 500.00 on it, included among them our own gaspipe. who btw knows much about these cards.

I believe gaspipe sold a PSA 10 of Seaver for $1000.00 on ebay a few months ago. I don't think this is the same one and there are 8 PSA 10's floating around. Not that difficult of a card.

    edit to add:

The current high bidder "dmachine" is probably the most active bidder of high grade 75's. I know he closed a private deal on the only PSA 10 of Jim Palmer, which is one of the more difficult Hall of famers in the set

I guess that speck of white towards the top is just on the scan.

Amazing what type of buying frenzy this set registry concept can generate.

If anyone finds a 75 Munson PSA 10 I would certainly come up with $500 image

When it comes to PSA 10s and there are at least two bidders wanting or needing that card you can through out the term "book value". What something books for raw is not a fair comparison to a PSA 10 graded card.

I respectfully disagree with you! I think this card will go higher? And why?

There are two PSA 10's "salted away" by two 1975 New York Mets Team Set Collectors
There are two PSA 10's "salted away" in 1975 Topps PSA Set Registry Sets
There is at least one PSA 10 held in a Basic Player Seaver Set

There are plenty of Met Fans, Seaver Fans, in addition to the "PSA 10 Type collectors", and a few dozen PSA Set Registry collectors that would love to have that card, plus, I forgot to mention all the serious Cincy Reds fans that still collect "Tom Teriffic" even though he became a Met! LOL!

In other words, I'm confident that all seven of the PSA 10 Seaver examples are now "salted away" in various PSA collections.

And if one wants this last graded example, they are going to "pay for it"!

edit: P.S. My guess, with a few hours to go, bidding may go even higher?

Oh, hey ya... I have no problem with someone paying that much for this card.... or ANY card for that matter. I know I've paid much MUCH more for a card than it was worth! I just thought it was jaw-dropping when I saw it, that's why I decided to share it with the board. To those that are bidding (and eventually winning) it... GO FOR IT!

I just hope I stumble upon a vintage (if '75s are considered vintage) worth under $50, get a PSA 10 on it, and turn it for $500/$600/$1,000 !!!

That speck (s) of white along the top scares me too.

    Steve

edit to add: Robert it is possible that a few of the 10's you refer to are owned by the same person. A person can have more then one set with the same card. I did not check, did you?

    Good for you.

In My experience with 75 topps the Seaver is one of the easier to find in the higher grade conditions much more so than the Ryan#500,Aaron#660,Schmidt,Rose,Gibson and a few other stars.Brett & Yount are rather easy to find also in higher condition also.I am not saying 10s but 8 or 9s.

This example appears to have a much wider edge on the left than the right and It looks like there is a white print mark above the M in "Mets". I wouldn't just blow it off as a scan defect! Though I hope it is a scan defect.

Gaspipe claimed to have had 8 of the 75 Topps Seaver PSA 10's and said he sold them for approx. $750 a piece?
