Eagles Sign WR - New Weapon?

WTF!!!

The Eagles have hit free agency with a thud if you ask me. Link below to signing. I wish this was a joke.
We signed an often injured Barber, a second string TE to go along with our other second string starting
TE, and now this deadbeat. The only decent signing is Howard.

I hope the Birds wake up soon and decide to spend some coin on some decent players. We should of
signed Bentley and made a run for Lloyd. Hopefully Javon Walker is in the plans and at least resigning
Runyon. They might get Runyon back but they are showing NO CLASS with how they are going about
it. As the supposed "class organization" that Lurie refers to all the time, they are not getting things done
the right way.

Just a recap the Birds needs include:

WR - a good one!
RB - big one
TE - a starting one
DT
OL - center and tackle
QB - decent backup not the stiff Garcia
P - I think they need to resign Johnson
Draft - a good one

Ok. I'm done now....

WR McCANTS SIGNS 1-YEAR DEAL

March 15, 2006
By DAVE SPADARO

Darnerien McCants bounced around like a pinball last year -- on and off the 53-man roster throughout the 2005 season -- and showed enough to the Eagles coaches to receive an invitation back for another look, this time from the start of the spring drills.
He has signed a one-year contract, the team announced on Wednesday.

Darnerien McCants made plays against Arizona
McCants, signed by the Eagles as a free agent prior to the start of the 2005 regular season after he was cut by Washington, played in 12 games and caught 5 passes for 87 yards. McCants had his best effort in Arizona against the Cardinals, catching 2 passes for 39 yards.

McCants really made his mark on special teams, though, ranking fourth on the team in production points (128) despite playing in only 12 games.

Originally a fifth-round draft choice of Washington in 2001, McCants played his first four seasons with the Redskins before signing with Philadelphia in 2005 just days prior to the season opener. For his career, McCants has appeared in 41 games and notched 58 receptions for 774 yards and eight touchdowns.

The Gambrills, MD, native starred collegiately at Delaware State, where he led Division I-AA and set a school and conference record with 18 touchdowns in his senior season.

Believe it or not, one of the two WR's I wanted the Eagles to sign did just that.

Jabar Gaffney. Not Harrison, Walker or Moulds (one of them still could be an Eagle) or ... gasp, TO but I think he has a bright future. The other WR I wanted was Jurevicious.

Longshot, but lookout if Lendale White is on the board when the Eagles pick.

  • Actually I think Gaffney will flourish in Philadelphia. His numbers with Houston were pretty average, but that tends to happen when your QB is on his back every other play.
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12
