Hello, i have been a coin collector for over 45 years but am new to VAM's-i just purchased a VAM book. However-i have a 1879-S dollar with a recut or double S and also the OLL in Dollar is recut and shows doubling. It is in VF condition- I apologize for my lack of ability to post a picture. I cannot find it in the Vam Book. Could this be an unlisted Variety or did i miss it somehow? Do you think it is worth anything or is it some minor variety that is only worth what a regular 1879-S is worth? I will bring it to Baltimore On Friday the 17th (unless i forget it) if you want to see it. Just let me know your name and table no. Any help will be apprecitated. Thanks in Advance-Bob

Without photos attributiong yours might be tough, but check first to see if it a 1878 reverse with the Parallel Arrow Flight (PAF) of the top feather of the arrow on the reverse or the 1879 reverse with a Slanted Arrrow Flight (SAF).
Also look to see if the "r" in trust is broken or a full letter and any doubling in the date.
If I only had a dollar for every VAM I have...err...nevermind...I do!!
