I think so!
I just picked this one up and am pleasantly surprised how attractive it is for an MS60.

Of course it depends on the coin but most low MS or slightly worn gold looks good to me (unless it has a major distraction kind of scratch or something).
All my early gold is AU (pun intended) and I'm happy with the way it looks. I just posted some to the gold coin thread.

Why does MS61 sound worse than MS60 though?

Good point. I rarely see MS60 gold. Usually its either 61 or better or 58 or worse.

no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
but braddick your older holdered gold coin graded ms60 is super attractive but it is ALSO better than ms60!!
I make an exception for Classic Commemorative gold pieces, where only MS63 or better will do.
Congrats on the PickUp!

When I reentered the the market and started looking for type & better date $5 libs about 3 years ago....I ended up with a lot of 60-62 coins that will always be just that....60-62 coins. Some are nicer than others but in general...I do not even like viewing them anymore.
After adjusting to the price differential.....63+ gold just makes more sense. Learning what to look for takes a little time and graduating from Whatsamatta U.
