I've purchased from Mainer before, ZAR 1898 Penny, he's often got good coins.

On my monitor, it actually looks like it might be whizzed. I see a of hairlines on the obv. devices, and the rev. appears to have a bit of wear on the high points. That's my take anyway.

And yes, they do get redder......bosox can tell you that.

I would suspect that something is wrong with the coin as well. What raises my suspicions is that whith those incredible high wire rims, why is there missing detail? Wire rims like that tend to come from high pressure strikes, and high pressure strikes are also fully struck up as a rule. Bu this coin shows weakness and missing detail in some of the high point areas.
