Due to increasing interest and prices; the non-cc gsa dollars are coming out all over, Ive never seen a pcgs attributed one though, under 5yrs ago I was purchasing 1903o gsa dollars for under $400. I certainly wish I held on to them image
  • You mean 1884-1885CC or MS64- MS65 CC's?? There weren't very many true gem 65 Morgans before the GSA releases. I think a few got out in the 1950's--Halperin is reported to have had a bag of 1891CC's in MS prooflike (some had to be gem or sold that way). If you mean 1885CC's, they were key dates. Look at Heritage or Ebay and you'll see there are more AU 1893S and 1903O than 1885CC's.

Most of the MS CC dollars out there did originally come from the GSA hoard even if they don't say anything about it. For example coins like the 83 and 84 CC dolars used to be key dates and MS pieces almost unknown before the GSA hoard. The GSA coins hit the market in 1972 and dealers cracked them out for years before the slabbing services came along and it has ony been in the past few years that they have started putting GSA on the slabs if THEY crack them out. SO you can probably figure that 90 to 95% of the MS CC dollars in slabs did come from the GSA hoard.
