Was this coin minted in clad or silver. I know less than absolutely nothing about modern er, stuff, and had always thought that these were minted in clad.

60% clad.
100% modern.
is mostly copper alloyed with silver. This varies depending on who you ask but I believe it's
20% silver.
All 1965 halfs are 40% silver clad (conventional usage is shifting to calling them silver and not
clad) except for a few struck accidently in 90% silver. (~a dozen known if memory serves) The
SMS version was struck under higher pressure for inclusion in the Special Mint Set. Most of the
dies for this were basined (fields ground flat) and many were sandblasted to create the cameo
effect on the first coins from the die.
Business strikes are relatively easy to find nice but are not as nice as the SMS's. Very high grade
coins of both are scarce as are more typical high grade SMS's. Problems tend to be marking and
strike for the regular business strikes. There are several varieties with one of the more interesting
ones being a rare rotated reverse on the SMS.

I'd give you the world, just because...
Speak to me of loved ones, favorite places and things, loves lost and gained, tears shed for joy and sorrow, of when I see the sparkle in your eye ...
and the blackness when the dream dies, of lovers, fools, adventurers and kings while I sip my wine and contemplate the Chi.
