Upgrades?????????

I have just one question about graded cards. If I have a card that is graded by PSA and I think that it should be a higher graded then can you submit it in the holder and what would the chances of it being upgraded? I am new to the whole grading process and if this is a stupid question please let me know. I am just wondering.

I think that if they still had it at their place and you asked them to take a 2nd look at it, that they might. If you already have it they probably would not do it, you would have to crack it out and have them re-grade it.

PSA does offer a review service. It costs a fee [plus S&H], plus the odds are extremely high that PSA will stick to their guns on their original grade. You get a better chance for a bump on a crack-and-resubmit than a review process.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
  • Ok what about cards that are graded from another company? Would you have to break them open or can you just send in the slab? Sorry about the stupid questions but thanks for all the help for this up and coming newbie!

  • how well do most crossovers go from say bccg, gai, pro, usa? would it even be worth spending the money on the types of graded card or just buy raw then submit?

Personally, I've had 4 out of 4 BGS 9.5 crossovers to PSA 10s while left in the slabs. I've elected to crack a BVG and a handful of SGCs, all of which crossed to the same or better grades. I guess the bottom line is that all of them looked at least the grade listed on the slab prior to cracking.

Based on the other thread going on this board right now, does anybody notice how he grouped one of those grading companies with the other 3? I wonder if this is a common assumption by new collector's. That's not a good sign for that grading company if their cards are going to be lumped with those 3.

I've had PRO cards cross to PSA no problem, while still in their holders [I did have a min. grade of one lower than the PRO grade]. But, believe it or not, but PRO used to be a pretty reputable grader in their first 1-2 years of business, and it wasn't a bad play to buy their cards at the time and flip them over to PSA at a notch below.

I wasn't trying to say that any of them are bad I was just wondering because I want all my graded cards by PSA. I was just thinking if I could pick up a card or cards that are graded by another company how they would cross-over or if it would even be worth the hassle. Sorry I didn't mean anything bad by the wording of my post.
