Finally getting some enjoyment from my cards.

I finally have found some time to "play" with my cards. I got tired of them being stored in boxes or piled next to my desk. I bargained with the wife for a little wall space and am now working on preparing some displays. Here is my first:

I'm also working on a Warren Spahn/ Eddie Matthews Milwaukee Braves display. Also have plans for a Nolan Ryan, a Mickey Mantle, a Robin Yount/Paul Molitor, and one for the Negro Leagues. I'm hoping by October I have most of it done. image

Thanks TB. How could I not show some pics. This is the only place I get to share in my love of baseball cards. The great members of this board are the only ones who can fully understand and appreciate the enjoyment I get from these pieces of history.

I wanted to use thumb tacks...

Just kept them in penny sleeves and used glue dots. Had to trim the sleeves for the smaller cards. I don't really like the reflection from the sleeves, but I can live with it.

  • I just finished the Milwaukee Braves display with Matthews & Spahn (my 2 favorite players - before Ryan came along). image

    MM,

Inspirational displays! Thanks for sharing. This would be a great way to display a lot of my Kirby kards that don't fit into binders...

Mucky, Those look great! I like the way you incorporated the newer issues with some great vintage cards. image
  • Thanks for the kind words guys.

It's been nice today to just stop and ponder the cards when I walk by them. It's also nice to have them out of the closet. image

It sounds cheesy, but the most fun I ever have with my cards is with my 2 year old son. I pull out a handful of 89 Pro Set or 91 Ultra or something and he looks at the cards and identifies them as 'football', or 'baseball', or 'hockey'. I have them in a shoebox with his toys in the living room, and that box-- which by now contains no card that would grade above a 3- is far and away the most 'fun' box of cards I have in the house.

Edit to say: MM, I think your display is very cool looking. Do what I did-- commandeer a corner of the basement that's 'yours', and hang as many card displays, Bruce Lee posters and dog's playing poker pictures as the wall will allow!
