Package tracking question....

PSA sent me my grades on Friday and told me that my cards were shipped and gave me a tracking #. Tonight (Monday), I decided to track the package on the USPS website to verify the "Acceptance" of the package at the post office. I didn't get that message at all...

Label/Receipt Number: RAXX XXXX XXXU S

There is no record of this item.

Why Are You Receiving This Message?

1. Event information may not be available if your item was mailed recently. Please try again later.

2. The number was entered incorrectly. Be sure to enter all of the letters and numbers as they appear on your mailing label or receipt.

I will call PSA tomorrow. Has anybody experienced this sorta thing?

Sometimes it takes a few days for an item to "get into the system". I don't think its uncommon to receive a package before any data becomes available on it.
Always looking for 1996 Select Certified Football.
  • The customer service guy at USPS said that once the package is scanned, it is in the system. It seems odd that the package was ready to go out on Friday, yet it hasn't been scanned as of late Monday. I wonder if my tracking # was entered incorrectly in the email. I suppose I'll find out when I call PSA tomorrow... but I'd like to drift off to sleep with no worries tonight.

Doesn't PSA send everything registered mail, that way you have to go to the Post Office and pick it up. Well for those of you that are retired or work at home, I guess it's not a big deal.
Running an Ebay store sure takes a lot more time than a person would think!

My experience is that registered mail is only available for online tracking the evening after delivery or the next day, when the data is updated. In other words, it isn't a real-time tracking system, like you get with with FedEx or UPS. The USPS will deliver registered to your house, if they think you'll be home - otherwise, they will hold at the PO for pickup. It does require a signature, though. I got a PSA shipment yesterday, so I think my data is fairly up-to-date/accurate, at least for my area.

  • When I sent my package to PSA, I visited the USPS site and entered my tracking number a few hours after I dropped it off at the post office just to see what info would be available. It recognized my number and said that it was accepted at my local post office. That's why I'm curious as to why there is no info on my return package being accepted at the Newport Beach post office... it was emailed by PSA on Friday. Maybe this isn't unusual. I just don't have much experience with registered mail.

pandrews, let me know if your cards show up or if you get an explanation. I'm *hoping* to get an answer when I call tomorrow.

    Toad, see my information above.

What information will I receive when tracking Certified/Registered Mail?

Certified Mail™ and Registered Mail™ will provide you with online delivery or attempted delivery information. This means that you will not see scan information as the item is enroute to its destination, you will only see that the item was delivered or attempted to be delivered.

Click FAQs Here if you want to read it direct from their web site.

With registered mail, your package will nearly always arrive, so relax and fill out your bracket instead of worrying!
