What size must they be downsized to?
I think I might like to give it a try.

This is the part I have yet to master because of my limited skill when it comes to digital photography.
Unfortunately there really isn’t a hard fast conversion from file size to pixels. Or more accurately I should say there are to may variables to be an easy conversion. File type, dpi, pixel, and color are all moving targets. I added a couple of examples were file sizes are the same, but clearly the image in #2 is more then twice the size as #1.
The first is one I took with my digital cam and cropped it to fit the 50k limit of the forum. The physical size of both pictures are the same, 49,152 bytes.
Specs on both pictures.
#1 413x414 pixels @ 96dpi (abet it poor)
#2 1024x768 @ 96dpi - (picture from the Anacs website)
So it isn’t the lack of experience with digital photography. My suggestion would be to dabble with the pictures you take where the settings on the camera are a constant and the end results equal the file size you want.
Hope this helps or makes sense.

I use XnView, free software, to crop and resize images to 365 X 365. Then I open the Obverse image in Microsoft Paint. Then I go to edit "Paste from, and select the Reverse Image. This will put the reverse on top of the obverse. Just drag the reverse off the obverse image. Once everything is lined up like you want, "Save" it. I then use this pic in my Registry Set's. Hope this was what you were looking for and found helpful. Lee
