I have a bunch of nickels from 1942 - 1945. Are they worth anything more than face value...enough to be worth the trouble of selling them...or do I just go to the bank and turn them in? Thanks for the help.

nickels and those who do have huge spreads. There's more silver in two of these than
in a silver dime though. I like to hold onto XF's and AU's and always check for the great
varieties which show up. Of course the P (without mint marks) and D '42's aren't silver.
D'oh. Thanks Cladiator.
about 56 cents a piece

Some are and some aren't. If your 1942 P's are Type 1 with no minmark then thay have no silver. If they are Type 2 with the large "P" mintmark above Monticello then they are silver.
New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.
The name is LEE!
Definitely a good site though
