Every commemorative collector (and even those who are not) should get the QDB Commemorative Encyclop

I recently bought the QDB Commemorative Encyclopedia (all 750+ pages of it), and I am almost through reading the entire book. I have to let everyone know that this is an incredible book and contains a ton of very useful information. What I like best is the historical background that QDB gives for every single commemorative issue. If you are a commemorative collector (and even if you are not), I am not sure how you can NOT have this book. For example, I had no clue what the Elgin commemorative commemorated, and if I was a collector, I would want to know the background of the coin, rather than just buying one to "fill a hole" in the album. Also, what the hell is a Huguenot-Walloon, and why is it on a commemorative? (read the book and find out!). In summary, I give the book a 9 on the Longacre sale of 1 to 10. It quickly became one of my favorite QDB books (and I am a disciple of the messiah).

I'd give you the world, just because...
Speak to me of loved ones, favorite places and things, loves lost and gained, tears shed for joy and sorrow, of when I see the sparkle in your eye ...
and the blackness when the dream dies, of lovers, fools, adventurers and kings while I sip my wine and contemplate the Chi.

Superb book. I would recommend it as well for the very serious classic commem collector.
<< <i>I'll bet there's not a single MODERN Commemorative in that book. What date did you say it was published? >>
It does cover moderns, up to and including the 1991 issues.
