California Fractional gold

I have heard that some of the California Fractionals were not all made with gold, some were gold plated. I would like to find out of the 3 series, are many of the second series of fractionals gold plated?

I'm afraid I don't know anything about Fractional gold, but the book you want is the Breen/Gillio book on California Pioneer Fractional Gold, which is available at Stack's, among other places, no doubt.

You must talk about "California Fraction token." Be careful about the tokens vs. gold.

Most of the period 1 coins were struck from unalloyed natural gold while many of the period 2 coins were struck on low grade gold (8K) planchets, low grade gold planchets that were gold plated. silver planchets that were gold plated, and brass or copper planchets that were gold plated. The Breen Gillio book can give you the specifics on individual issues.

And then there are the fantasy pieces that were made in the 1950's and early 60's that were made of brass, sometimes gold plated and sometimes not.
