I didnt think i was gonna be into this thing at all. but it is very cool. japan got screwed tonite.

That might put a black cloud over the event now.

  • I agree it is getting good. JPN did get robbed. I hadn't realized that MLB umps weren't involved in the WBC. I kind of got the impression that Selig browbeat everyone in to participating.

  • I just saw the replay - it definitely looked like the japanese dude tagged up and scored.

Who knows? Japan might have scored more than just that one run, and the whole game would have taken a different turn. I watched most of this game, and actually missed the controversial play. Much better game than I would have thought.

I went to the WBC game in Anaheim tonight featuring Mexico vs Korea. I really didn't expect that many people but they place was pretty packed! It definitely had a playoff atmosphere to it and the fans were very enthusiastic cheering for their teams. It was great to see and experience. Tomorrow should be exciting with USA vs Korea.
Looking for Los Angeles/California/Anaheim Angels in PSA 8 or better
  • yep....the Japs did get screwed...I guess it was belated payback for Pearl Harbor (Hiroshima and Nagasaki doesnt count)
I cant believe they REVERSED the call. LAME!

That's pretty cool. I'm not for this thing one way or another, but it is growing on me. The US game tonight doesn't start until 10pm estimage

I posted on this in the "Open Forum" when I got home that night. Replay after replay here in Japan on all the stations. They got robbed okay.

But now they got a bit of luck going their way with the elimination of Team U. S. of A.

  • Japan just went up 2 zero on a homerun by Fukudome -- 7th inning.

Well, 1 out now and they have a guy on 2nd.

Uh oh, two-base hit and now it's 3-zero.

Word guard gave me a hard time with that Japanese name up there.

Carol, David, SM1, you guys really need to get that "Can't Edit Twice" trouble fixed. Why tell us to back click and fix the word if your program won't let us post the message anyway? It's really frustrating, folks. Really!!

  • Well, well, well! Manager Oh is beginning to make up for some of his earlier calls concerning pitchers in previous games. Two batter changes resulting in 3 points is pretty good.

    4 to nothing -- still the 7th.

  • Looks like the rain is a bit harder now. Bottom of 7th, 5-0. Can japan hold the Koreans?

And additional credit might be given to Manager Oh for changing the lineup a bit before tonight's game. Ichiro Suzuki doesn't get moved out of the leadoff spot too often.

Thiggy turn off that rain there in San Diego!!

Does Thiggy ever come here to the Sports forum? Maybe not.

  • I got a glimpse of this game on the ocho.

It seems like almost all of these games are very low scoring - I guess that makes sense since pitchers have an advantage when the batter isn't familiar with them.

Well, Tamura just hit a homerun in the top of the 8th and it's now 6-0. Maybe Thiggy should keep that faucet on. It's getting pretty wet looking on that field.

But yes, iamthegreatcornholio, you are correct. Been a lot of low scoring games. It's the pitching -- the best from each country. Well, in most cases, when the "best" were allowed to play.

Uh oh, looks like a halt in the game right now.

    Back at y'all later.

THIGGY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!TURN OFF THAT WATER, WILL YA? YOUR YARD IS WELL WATERED ALREADY, YES?

  • Game restarted and they just finished the 8th. Still 6-0 and moving to the top of the 9th. We say saishu-kai in Japanese. Can Japan finally win one over Korea, Republic of?

  • Well, that's it! Japan moves on. Finally was able to get a handle on those Korean pitchers and control those Korean batters!!
