1909S or Something

At a coin show today I purchases a really great 1909S Lincoln Cent that is probably a MS62 or thereabouts. However, when I got home and checked it our with a magnifing glass I noticed strange markings around the S.
So now my question is anyone want to guess what this is?
Could it be just a RPM? An S over horizontal S? A double or triple S?
A blob next to and in parts of the S? My imagination?

It sure looks like it could be a rpm, looks somewhat like breen #2058.
  • Yes sir -- that is the 1909-S exhibiting an "S over horizontal S" listed in the CPG Guide as FS-012.3 and CONECA RPM-002. Congrats! Looks to be a nice one!

This is what it looked like when I bought it in a 2x2.

I was afraid to put it in set number 1 because of that funny looking S but now after what people are saying I guess I did alright. Got it real cheap. The dealer probably thought it was damaged by the mint mark.
