Well, I did it.....

Sold $10,000 worth of coins at the show today in Charleston.
It felt good in a way but I did hate to see a few of them go. Made a pretty good profit.

My collecting focus will officially change in October, when I begin buying with more focus and discrimination at the PAN show.

Doesn't it feel great to free up all that cash? Now the trick is not to blow all that money at once.

Nice you could sell them all at once.

It's harder to piss away $10k than $830 a month for a year

Did you get your own table? I would like to do that some time but I would feel very uneasy taking checks from someone I don't know. Is it ok for a first timer to tell the buyer that he will hold checks and mail the coin when the check clears?

So what will you be focusing on and why are you waiting for October? Enquiring minds want to know.

I'm going to focus on early type coins and Draped bust halves.

I plan on having the rest of my collection sold by October. (SSP-sorry) The PAN show is the biggest show I've ever been to and the wife likes to go there on our anniversary. If I save my collecting budget till then, I should be able to make a nice purchase if I can find what I'm looking for.

The money from selling my stuff now is going on the principal of my home loan. image

Ya can't go wrong there, especially the DBH's............ IMO
  • The PAN show is nice, but with such a sizable chunk of money I'd hold out for an ANA show if I were you. I enjoy the PAN show, but it seems like there are very limited quantities of truly nice coins there.
  • I would rather go to a Central States show or to Baltimore than the PAN show. But, everyone to their on tastes.image

Hey...you could save up for some of those $50 buffalos rumored to be coming out this year!
