If all goes well EJ will pass 10,000 yards this year at the young age of 27....he is averaging 1500 a year....does he have a chance at being the all time rusher?? and even if he comes a few 1000 short...is he a HALL OF FAMER????
I think the criteria is going to change dramatically for a HoF running back...remember when a 1000 yard season was the hallmark? Now it seems 1000 yard seasons are common.
As it stands now, James isn't a hall of famer...but with a few more dominant years and if his knee holds up then sure. He's led the league twice in rushing yards. I see if he gets to 15000 yards (5700 more yards) then he's a lock for sure.
The Cardinals just don't get it. While signing a guy like James certainly helps, if not having guys up front who can open up holes, then it's a waste of money - and a strain on the cap space. Bad teams seem to consistently make bad decisions year after year. The much better way for a bad team to improve offensively is bulid an O-Line and draft a running back because running backs can step into the NFL and excel easier than any other position. Even with Warner, they still won't get 8 wins and it won't even be close to 8.
I would bet the cards will finish 2nd behind the seahawks next year.
They have one heck of an offense. they still have room under cap to get o line help. plus a high draft pick. sleeper team next year to go deep into the playoffs.
Well, I lived in Phoenix the past 25 years and I've almost lost hope in them. Every year they add great talent but they just can't make it work. A few years back, they had an incredible defense. It was near the top in every category, but their offense was pathetic. Plummer was the only hope for that offense surrounded by nobody. Then they slowly lost all their defensive stars (Simeon Rice, Aeneas Williams, Corey Chavous, etc.) so that went to crap. They have been slowly adding some real offensive threats in the past couple years but they still haven't figured out how to win games. Denny Green is a good coach so maybe he knows what he's doing in the long run, but I think the owner Bill Bidwell always keeps the coaches hands tied. They are always below the salary cap and the team makes a profit, but that doesn't lead to wins.
From a honest non-fan standpoint, this offense might really put up some numbers. A great running back will ALWAYS open up the passing game and with Fitzgerald and Boldin, this could turn into a shootout all season long. That all depends on if they can establish a solid running game that defenses will have to respect. As for the Colts, I really think this will hurt Peyton Manning's numbers unless they can replace him with equal talent. Manning will still be great, he just won't be Dan Marino great like he has been.
A good pickup that the Cardinals (or any team) need is a guy like Ray Lewis. A defensive leader that will make others around him play better. Guys like Ray Lewis, Brian Urlacher, Zach Thomas, and a few others can single handedly make a defense better just by their presence.
<< <i>When you play the Colts, you play to stop Manning, and James' numbers look pretty good when the defense is playing the pass virtually every play. >>
Exactly and ever since his knee injury he has slowed down. Unless you drink Cardinal koolaid they way way overpaid. Wait and see.
I dont think Edge will even top a 1000 yds this season. I think Arizona's line is probably the worst in the league. Edge has much more talent than Ship and company but looking at their running game last year consisting of alot of 11 carries for 8 yards and some 15 carries for 24 yards. Nobody will be able to run behind that line.
I'm not sure what you guys are talking about. Arizona has a huge offensive line. Have you guys seen the size of Leonard Davis? Here's a list of their starting OL and their weights:
LT 75 Leonard Davis 366 LG 73 Jeremy Bridges 323 C 60 Nick Leckey 298 RG 61 Elton Brown 339 RT 79 Oliver Ross 324
I think Edge will do fine behind that. Those guys can push around anybody.

I wouldn't be surprised if they move up in the draft and pick someone.
Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12
Looking for Al Hrabosky and any OPC Dave Campbells (the ESPN guy)

There was talk of the Cards taking Lendale White, I guess that will not happen. Maybe the Eagles can steal him.
