Why didnt topps buy a slew of 57 topps cards and insert them into packs of heritage this year...if they do not want to give us auto's...WHY DONT THEY BUY A FEW COMMONS ON EBAY!!!!! that may have not been feasile in the past..however NOW the vintage cards are the same size as the originals...ITS POSSIBLE...boatloads of commons can be found on ebay....or topps at a fixed price could buy commons from big time dealers with may have a decent amount of raw 57's....i dont know...i think they can REALLY do it with 58 topps and 59 topps and the 60's...oh man there are TONS OF CARDS OUT THERE TO BE INSERTED. I just think it would be cool....after all ITS A RELIC SET...MAKE THE RELIC CARDS REAL OLD CARDS!!
ok i feel better.

Hard to say why they didn't?
My guess? Unless they inserted really nice cards, people would complain about getting some vintage "crap" and would rather have a nice insert card?
Now, the autos on vintage cards is a great idea - even better - insert PSA/DNA authenticated vintage 57s as boxtoppers in hobby.
I guarantee you they "brainstormed" a mess of ideas and since these guys are hemorrhaging at the gills with so much bad products over the past years that "budget" played a major role in their decisions of what will the final product look like?

I agree 100% with this satement.I have several Autos on older less condition Vinatge cards which I really enjoy.
Then they wouldnt spend AS MUCH and could focus there resources on MORE AUTO's.

<< <i>they need to cut out all the other crap, make a regular topps and a topps heritage and thats it....enough with the chrome sets...make those SUBSETS of the regular set etc etc...

Spoken like a true collector Ryan.
But, just for second, let's put on our Topps hats...
They make the chromes...
Kids like the shiny cards with the limited numbering...
They go out and buy more and more packs to complete the set. The goal is realistic.
Making more autos would not be as financially compelling to them IMO. And completing the set of autos like in the Fan Favorite set is not realistic and expensive to purchase on ebay or card shops e.g.
