OK, so hre is yet another reason to stop smoking.....i just recently finished off a room in my basement for a new office. 5/8'' drywall all the way around with new flooring and the works. I dumped my ash tray out and headed up stairs for a few minutes until smoke and fumes started to work through the house. An hour later, my office was ruined and my card collection was about %20 gone.
The lessons learned from this:
1. Keep your cards on a spreadsheet and the info in another place (server).
2. Graded cards can take on some heat with SGC being the worst and PSA being the best.
3. My insurance Company agreed to use SMR to pay the loss but the hard to find commons will be a $ loss.
4. Store your cards as close to ground level as possible and this will help keep them from melting quicker.
5. Keep an extinguisher close to your collection!
I sent the serial #'s of the lost cards to PSA so they can be removed from the pop reports...Let's see if they remove them?

Dump your ash tray in the toilet not the barrel.
Sorry for your loss.

I'm just glad that the rest of your house is OK and that nobody got hurt.
