I finally own one of my dream coins. . .

and I'm thrilled. It's not an easy coin to image (I've got to figure out this whole lighting thing), but the photo gets the point across. Feel free to guess the grade.

Edited to say: By the way, thanks again to Ira Stein.
I've had great transactions with people like: drwstr123, CCC2010, AlanLastufka, Type2, Justlooking, zas107, StrikeOutXXX, 10point, 66Tbird, and many more!

Congrats! I know it was a great feeling when I got my 1909 SVDB, a dream coin from my youth. The 55/55 is one I'd like to have too some day.

Congrats on a nice coin. The 55 DDO is THE COIN. I can only imagine how many people are coin collectors because of this coin. Everyone recognizes it and most want it (if they don't already own one) What a great coin you have there.

Congrats on getting a "dream coin"! That is a great feeling.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

Good guess Goose, it's in an NGC MS62 brown holder. I hope to cross it to a PCGS slab and get a "trueview" photo of it. Thanks for all the comments. It's truly a fun coin to own.

A little hard to grade. The text and date on the obverse seem a little blurred. image

    Congrats on getting this coin.

I own the exact same coin in NGC 62 BN.

Tough coin to cross, good luck.

The back looks like its in focus, but theres something funny with the obverse.
Or maybe I've just had a little too much to drink.

yea goose was right on i would have said ms62 bn also

and these coins are weakly struck and this coin is definatelyh not au58 it is a true ms coin from my point of view

you got the all time classic lincoln cent and all time error double die the king of all any any double dies

    bar none

    i love it fantastic coin

personally myself i would leave it right in the holder it is in

if it aint broke dont fix it

but well life is about choices and i hope you make all the right ones regarding usa federal coinage

in a PCGS holder, it would probably go MS61 BN,

    (just me thinkin')
  • When I got back into coins after a long break (being older with more money) that was one of my first purchases -- a dream coin for me too! Isn't it great realizing a dream? It's such a good feeling. I'm really happy for ya.

Thanks all for the replies. I've also had the pleasure of recently buying a 1937-d, 3 legged buffalo in PCGS AU50. It's another coin that I've always wanted. My goal is to eventually have a 20th century type set of neat variety coins. It's been a lot of fun. image
