One of the rarest coins in the world found in an old jar.

stev32kstev32k Posts: 2,098 ✭✭✭
This guy found an 1885 Trade Dollar in an old mayonnaise jar when re-modeling his house. Only 5 1885 Trade Dollars were minted (all proofs) and the going price should be about $1 million. However, you can bid on this one starting at only $60.00. Get it here

How did you recognize that accent, relayer ? that's what I wanna know image

I'm surprised too, that he didn't give fractions of inch measurements about EXACTLY WHERE Between the lath and the 2x4 that it actually was. And also if there were 8-penny nails used on the exterior walls.

At auction of two a (Silver) Trade dollar coins 1873-S and 1885. In last fall time, when I was re-modeling a new dry walls in the Living room, I removed all old plater wooden laths wall out and clean-up source old plater, wooden laths, found one greenish food jar has almost full of all silver (very grayish/black/some golden tan) 28- Morgan dollar coins and 2- Trade dollar coins were altogether into the greenish food jar on bottom and corner on floor frame from inside wooden laths at 2 by 4 framing hard wood at behind old double doors. There Morgan dollar coins would not shown in pictures. All 28 of Morgan dollar coins were sold out at Ebay.

Does the above sound as though it was written by someone who speaks English on a daily basis?

BTW - I'm not Relayer, although I have owned a Yes album or two in my time.

Wish you people would stop bidding on this so I can get it for a bargain. image

Actually I didn't even read the ad text, just stev32k's synapsis and looked at the pictures to see it was fake.

Since most fake Trade Dollars come from China and stev32k mentioned mayonnaise, I put the two together and ... oh well, never mind.

I agree - don't think this guy's first language is English. Just to see what response I would get I sent the guy an email and asked if he knew the 1885 was worth a million dollars. Here's the response:

"What??? m I am not familiar about Trade dollar coins... Thank-
    you for tell me.... Joel"

P.S. I also told him it was counterfeit and he should modify his description.

I offered an even trade - his 1885 $1 million Trade Dollar for this 1912 $1 million dollar boxer rebellion General Tsi Khun. I haven't had a response yet.

    How much for that one
  • I sent the following:

Shame, shame. Five 1885 trade dollars were made - all proofs. This is a chinese copy. Do you really think the buyer won't figure this out and realize the story about you finding them is bunk? This is a good way to get suspended from ebay.

I can translate the Vietnamese doing poor English quite well, but not so much the Chinese doing poor English. It's really two different almost-languages.
