set selling questions

Thinking about selling my Sac registry set to raise some $ to cover smoe unexpected expences. My questions are:

1. sell it as compete set, or in pieces?
2. Ebay or BST? which would generate best outcome?
TIA

  • JMHO, but in my limited experience, selling a set individually is far better than the set as a whole, unless your set is well known and esteemed. Think of it this way: how may collectors are right now looking to buy a whole Registry Set? How many collectors are looking to buy this or that coin to upgrade or build their own set? If you do go with the entire set, protect yourself with a decent reserve or opening bid and sell the heck out of it.
    Good luck! Rob

You'll make more money if you sell it by the individual coin as opposed to selling it as a set.

    nolimitz,

No question individually is the way to go.

  • Thanks folks, any comments on venue? I'm "assuming" Bay of E?

one day i may sell a coin and i would like to think i would
    use the bay of E.

of course i would start slowly with the lesser valued coins
hoping for stellar feedback via excellent service.

eBay is by far your best bet.

I'd first try to sell it as a set once, at the price you want.

First you could list it on the BST for free, then try once on eBay opening at the price you want.

If neither of these don't work out, then list them individually on eBay, but you'll only be out a few dollars trying it as a set first.

I would suggest do a one day auction on the set to see if there is a reasonable buyer, if not I would list them seperate.
