Has psa ever dinged one of your cards?

I dont know what to do. I sent in two 52 redman with the tabs that I have had under screw down for 10+ years. They were mint, I mean the best I have ever had. Even before submitting them, I looked them all over with my little loop and said at least 8s for sure. One came back 8 the other 5 with a big very noticable with the naked eye ding on a corner. I am 100% sure that I would not have missed that ding nor would I have ever sent it in with a ding like that. I mean those cards are $15 to grade each. I probably wont do anything because I just got through a little battle with them about missing my turn around deadline and they coughed up several free submissions. Has this ever happened to you?

No, but BGS has. Did you scan them before sending them in? If so, that would be good proof.

  • I had a 1992 Stadium Club Brett Favre that was in a GAI 9.5 holder. I looked it over many times before cracking it out. It was the best card I have ever seen, and I own many Brett Favre PSA 10s. The first two times it went to PSA, it came back as 9s. The third time, it also came back a 9, but the upper left corner on the reverse was peeled back. The card never would have gotten that grade if the grader saw it, so it had to have happened in the sealing process.

Since there was nothing I could do at that point, and I had already lost my money since the card never crossed, I had to dump it. It was a sad sad day.

Wouldn't/Couldn't PSA just claim poor packaging or blame it on the post office?? I assume everytime I send in a card that doesn't get a PSA 10 then someone dinged something. image

Well, In the specific case I am referring to, bgs did claim responsibility for it because of the scans I took prior to sending them out. Plus it was graded a 9.5 . The way the card was damaged there is no way that grade could have been assigned if it happened during transit. In easydoesit's case it will probably be different because the card was graded pretty low.

    So who knows?

  • Yeah, I had a 64 Mantle - came back with a crease and a 3. image But I still don't want to talk about it.

    1972 Rene Robert
    1973 Canadians Team
    1973 Maple Leafs Team

All happened on the same submission. These three cards were absolute blazers-- easy 9's-- and all three came back 7's with the lower right corner bent.

Happened to me twice. Nothing they will do about it. Chalk it up to experience, chances are it won't happen again.

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

On two separate invoices. On one, I sent in an '85 Donruss Ripken that came back with a big indentation, as if someone had it under a paper on which they were writing with a ballpoint pen. Came back a 7 instead of the anticipated 9. On the other, two '82 OPC hockey cards came back with substantial creasing that virtually every collector would've noticed prior to submitting. What's odd is that one was graded 4 while the other still graded 9. PSA traded me a few vouchers for the latter.

1984 Donruss Joe Morgan PSA 10
1985 Donruss Joe Morgan PSA 10

I bought these from 4SC, and both have creases in the exact same place, so messed up when sealed, I suppose. When I get a membership, I'll send them in.

I had 2 1953 Parkies that were guaranteed PSA 8 both come back with a crease like the cards were bent in half. Other than that - nothing but good things to say.

I had two cards grade a 9 and 8 but they mislabeled them both (switched for each other). I sent them back to be corrected and suddenly saw the grades were changed to an 8 and a 5. I immediately inquired and found out they messed them up when cracking them out. Ivan, the operations manager, habdled it quite professionally and gave me a very fair offer for the two cards.

I recently submitted a perfect '97 Pinnacle Cert. Mirror Gold that I removed the protective covering on, examined it (perfect), put it in a soft sleeve, and then a Card Saver I. It was graded 9, due to a nickel-sized scuff in the middle of the card. I know for a fact it wasn't there when I submitted it, and it was so obvious I could see it through the case when I got it back. I'd bet my life that PSA did this, as it's not a "mailing mishap" possibility, but I didn't press the issue since it was a $15 card to begin with.

Except for that, they've handled my cards very well.

Get me Ivan's phone number -- I'll tell him how to get PSA-graded cards out of their cases perfectly. And I'll only ask for 100 free 5-day submissions!!!

I've had two cards come back with a surface wrinkle on the back that I know wasn't there when I submitted them. How could that have happened? Both, IMO, were 9's or 10's when I submitted them!

Did everyone who had a problem use Card Saver 1's? I used to use Card Savers 2 on occasion and noticed that damaged happened more often with the smaller sleeves.

I just sent in a big submission of vintage football and these kind of posts always make me paranoid. I have a 1971 Bradshaw that is at least an 8 and several 1950's stars that are PSA 7/8 quality.
