What is your favorite Tuff Stuff error price?

In regards to the previous Tuff Stuff thread...I will not suscribe because they do not update older vintage sets, cards and wax boxes. I have emailed, called and talked to Tuff Stuff at the National and the only reply is that they are working on it. Here are a few of my examples....1961 fleer bsk wax boxes are at 16k...most dealers active in this box are paying more than that,1970-71 topps bsk wax box is 7450.00-7750.00...bbcex had his at 12k and Dave and Adams is 14k.1972 topps football series 1 box is listed for 1525.00..I will take one and finally...1977 Topps Mexican football wax boxes are 200.00..I will take a case. They have 1000.00 on a 1951 topps magic fb set. I would love to find a nm set of these for 1000.00. I personally think that Tuff Stuff does not change these prices because it caters to dealers who quote the lower Tuff Stuff price and then make much more money elsewhere. I have no problem with people making a reasonale profit...just not at the expense of an outdated price guide. Soo....what is your favorite wrong price in Tuff Stuff up or down...we may save us members lots of money with these observations....I have said my peace Spazzy

I see your point and agree that it is off on wax, for sure.

I'm not sure what's up with the pricing but have a suggestion - don't talk to Tuff Stuff - go to one of their bigger companies - SCD - and ask the same question - they both use the same price guide statistics but reference the Tuff Stuff incidents.

A perfect thing to do, scd@krause.com, contact SCD thru the Reader Reaction column and state your case.
See if your letter gets printed. If you don't get SCD, when it comes out, I will post the letter here at CU.

Finally, the writers and people at Tuff Stuff are also long time hobbyists and do have to walk the chalk line with respect to advertising revenue but I really don't think the price guide is driven by a "plan" to short change collectors. This may be naive but I hope I'm correct.

Stone, Thanks for the reply. In the past i have emailed my observations to scd@krause and just got back a basic "dear John" reply. I think it is just too much work for Tuff Stuff to do the research on the older stuff. It just falls through the cracks each month and they get their rag mag out on time. I have read Tuff Stuff for years on and off and as others have said,it just repeats SCD newspaper about a month later. Both these publications promise to give you the best of the hobby and they fail..I would be more interested in reading a one month collection of these message boards...I think we all have learned more from scams to values of cards to good and bad dealers...If Tuff Stuff or SCD had the guts to talk about we do on the boards,it would be a hell of a magazine,

They are way off for older wax, but don't tell them until I'm done buying it up from local dealers. I just got 5 boxes of 1983 Topps Football for $45 per box.
