If you are going to keep it...it doesn't matter. If you are planning on selling it, then every potential buyer will say it is AT. Personally, I think it is AT.

That coin has been discussed here before.

However, if it's being offered by a well-respected dealer who is also an ex-PCGS graded it's probably OK. image

Tonelover, that is definitly a different coin - and - Sinin 1, your coin is AT

I don't think it is the same coin from the other thread

If I was looking specifically for a wonderfully toned 1958 Franklin, I'd be going for this one instead.

    How about a toned Tonk?

  • My own personal opinion is that it is blatant AT. I would not be a buyer of such a coin. No matter whose holder it is in.

If an AT coin looks pretty, does it get a star from NGC?

Is the coin a Proof or Uncirc? If it's proof the color may be real, maybe. I'd say AT if it's uncirc. The color pattern is similar to my 52 proof shown below...although the color is stronger. Guess I'd say...who knows.

    sinin1,

none of us can say for sure if it was AT or NT and how it was made
    if AT.

we have all learned one way or another, that if you like the coin
feel free to buy it if the price is right.

otherwise, when you sell, be prepared for others to call it AT
    and get into this debate.

no one will pay strong money for it unless it is slabbed?
    maybe not even then.
