WBC looks like a success!

I'm watching a reply of Peurto Rico v Cuba. Looks like a success. The whole stadium is packed and going crazy.

Looks like some of the MLB owners are upset about the WBC purely for selfish reasons.

    I'm pumped to watch the USA kick a--... but ESPN is only showing 3AM tape replays--- that really sucks!!!!Anyboby else share my pain? Tony

    That was only because they were playing South Africa. You can bet the next game against Japan won't be a 3AM tape job.

    i think this gives us baseball fans a game that has some "meaning" rather than watching spring training games. imo, it gets the season going in great fashion. note to US TEAM, PLEASE PLAY DEFENSE! the defense against canada was pathetic.

    I'd have liked them to play this in the middle of the season, take an extended all star break and do this like they do in hockey.

    Players are in midseason form, and most injuries would be avoided from them overextending too early.

    For probably the first (and lastimage) time ever I agree with Axtell. Every three or four years this tournament could be held between June 1 and July 1 start to finish. Would allow for ample round robin play and a series for the finals. The MLB regular season would have to be cut to 140 games or so but we would get a legit tournament.

    Not an officiating controversyimage Did anyone else see an 8th inning run get erased in the JPN/US game because a runner supposedly didn't tag up?
    I hope this doesn't affect the outcome.

    I'll be down in Miami for the second round. The US SHOULD make it, so I'm planning on attending their games. I went to the first one in Orlando and had a blast and expect a great atmosphere in Miami thanks to the South American/Caribbean contingent.

    Despite a watered down roster, I am looking forward to it!
