No need for a photo. Went to the soda machine to buy a bottle of water. In the change I found a 1954-D Rosie! I've been silvered according to the MDers!

Smoetimes I like to salt my change with "interesting" old coins (albeit ones not worth a whoop to us "coin" folks.) You never know if someone finding it might turn into a collector.

I've heard that every year there is a consortiom (sp?) of dealers who pool a certain amount of money to purchase a large amount of buffalo's and merc and indians etc. to have them dispersed into circulation, therefore hoping to create interest among non collectors. Anyone else heard of this?

This is a cause that I would actually donate to, it deserves my money more that the coin possee.image
  • Salting is a lot of fun. At Christmas time, I put an ad in the local paper telling folks to be watching their change when they shop in town. I take some rolls of partial date buffs to a local men's clothing store and the owner sprinkles them into change. He relays the looks and comments to me when someone has spied a buff before it goes into their pocket. Try it sometime.

Even if true, I've never seen any evidence of it locally, if there were even a significant enough number of pieces released to make that possible.

    that's great

One of my nephews stopped by the other day with about 8 64 Kennedys that were easy AU+
He likes to go to the bank and buy small dollars and halves and cherry pick.

Smart thinkin', I thought. Why didn't I think of that ?
Wait !... He got that idea from me image

some of us get lucky, some of us have to search, and some of us, it just drops in our hands.

Nice find. About a week ago my mom found a 1942-D mercury dime in change.
