Strange markings on a George VI coin

Any ideas on how this error (or die damage) might have occurred?
The coin is a South African shilling of 1942.

Hmm. Normally
tinypic.com
is a good host for images. I'm not sure why it didn't work this time. Let me try a couple runarounds...

Okay, this should work.
Notice in particular the die break (???) at the base of His Majesty's neck, and the lines around GEORGIUS.

Notice in particular the die break (???) at the base of His Majesty's neck, and the lines around GEORGIUS.
