1903S Liberty Eagle (Die Crack / Clash) Question?

BECOKABECOKA Posts: 16,961 ✭✭✭
Does anyone know if die cracks / clashes were common on Gold Eagles? I will try to get pics this weekend (they don't show up well with a scanner) but I just got one that has some lines that go under a couple of the stars on the obverse. At first I thought they were scratches but when I look closer they seem to be raised. I have seen my fair share of eagles but this is the first one I have seen with this.

I can only speak to no-motto Coronet eagles, but it's pretty common to find them with die cracks. I haven't seen any from clashed dies, though (but I'd like to!)

Die cracks are fairly common on Lib tens but I've only seen a few die clashes and they were minor.

Here's a really cool die crack on the reverse of this Charlotte $5:

    Nice die crack.

I guess the original question came because for Morgans people seem to go crazy over anything from the norm (VAMs) but for gold I never hear about anyone specializing in anything like this.
