Spotty spots......

I'd have no problem offering a higher price for this item however there seem to be moisture spots on the obverse and the reverse looks REALLY shiny.

Could I please get a few opinions on the spots and the shiny reverse ?

TIA

The reverse seems to show an abundance of original luster, but the obverse doesn't, in my opinion, due to the angle of the coin which makes it hard for the camera to pick up. So the obverse might also show such luster. I see one of two scenarios: the first being a fully original coin (likely, in my opinion) with some normal spots due to the storage environment, and the second being a dog of a coin that was dipped but failed to remove the spots. It's impossible for me to give a conclusive opinion without seeing the coin. Can you ask the seller for more pictures?

It probably looks better in person than the photos indicate... Having said that, the "spots" scare me and I would pass on purchasing. I have an 1888 2 mark proof-like with those same spots. It's still a gorgeous coin but every time I look at it I am annoyed by those spots. I paid a fair price for the coin but in retrospect I should have held out for a better coin. That 2 Mark is one of the coins in my collection I am looking to improve upon.
I know, not a big help but if you are buying it as a type wait and get a better one. If you are buying it for a date or mint set and you need it to fill a hole, buy it if the price is right. The condition looks good enough...
    Just my 2 cents worth...
