Kinda looks like a 8/7 to me.
The Mint had production problems in 1918, presumably from an influx of new hires.
A percentage of the regular employees enlisted went to war. They were replaced by
inexperienced help, who took a while to catch on.
Specifically, 1918 Buffs had a higher than average percentage of off-center strikes.
This would not in any way de-value your error, but go towards explaining why it is a 1918.
It's strange also, because most of the error coins ended up being struck better than
the good ones.........yours showing exceptionally more detail in the central obverse
than the average 1918.
Hope this helps..........

guys
that would really be great if it was an 8/7. now i really can't wait to get the coin in my hands.
topstuf : what would it mean if there really is a line from his jaw to the hair braid? "( jackpot city)" would that be a die crack?
john
I've seen an enlarged pic on here from someone.

Forgive me if I'm mistaken, but wasn't the overdate minted in Denver?
Lincoln set Colorless Set
It's a Philly coin with no mintmark on the reverse.
The Overdate came from Denver........with a D mintmark.
