Do people read the articles in SMR?

While we are asking about magazines, do people read the articles in SMR? And does an article about a specific set have any impact on its popularity?

  • I enjoy the articles, especially b/c they seek out the advice of members who collect those sets. When a set I am interested is discussed, I don't feel threatened since I can't afford the quality of cards they are discussing.

I actually cut out and save most of the wonderful PSA Registry Set articles...and throw the rest away after reading some of the other stuff once (like the auction articles or those on vintage finds/collections).

It helps to pass the time away while I'm on the can. Really.

Absolutely, it is about the only part of the SMR I actually read.

  • I read the articles fairly religiously too - even if I can only dream of those old vintage sets. I just wanted to see if others do the same.
  • I'm not huge into grading, but the autograph and bat articles once in a while a really interesting. I think SMR is pretty interesting overall.

These articles are actually interesting to read. Man, do I wish I had the resources ($$$) to put a high
grade vintage set together. However, one point I would like to make is that PSA also uses the
articles as a selling point to have sets graded. Call it whatever you want, but PSA set registry
is money in the bank for PSA. The recent 1984 Donruss article is a good example to generate interest
    in modern sets. Tom

I like the articles on Sets. I very seldom look at the price guide unless I am looking for a particular card price.
