Yeah, I used to. It made it real easy for the thieves to know exactly what to steal.

<< <i>There's another post about this topic a couple weeks ago...but i can't remember the name, so i couldn't find it >>
I remember that too. It was longer then a few weeks ago, I think it was a couple of months ago. I could be wrong though.

That would be me!...lol Yeah, wife has been on my case about my collection, I kind of stopped collecting for the moment. But it's hard to resist when you see something new at Target or Walmart.
Lately, I've been just working on my Hall of fame Autograph collection!!!
Enjoy!
Jery
I RESPECT ANYONE WHO TAKES THAT MUCH TIME, MONEY, AND EFFORT INTO COLLECTING. You must be filthy rich or dead broke and eating top ramen!
Thanks cardcore I would appreciate it
Nick
I've slowed down abit, I've got several offers for the entire collection. Maybe I'll sell it and buy a small Island.
For now this is my passion, and relaxation.
when you collect something you need to stick with it, watch it grow. Enjoy it for awhile before you let it go.

Most of the collection came from ebay and yard sales, when you buy something like this on ebay, "KEY WORD" Lot, collection you'll be surprise how many people want to sell you their collection. less than 10 cent on the dollar. I hit all the clearance isles for damaged stuff, and just open them up for display. Star wars collections, go look in a penny saver or recycler and look for close out businesses perferably comic and sports shops. Because of Ebay many people are closing down their shops. That frozen Han solo in carbonite, retails for $8,000. I got it for $150. All those opened giant figures in the display case were all damaged and clearanced figures at walmart. retail new like $50-150. but on clearance and nobody buys damaged or smashed boxes, everyone want's MINT CONDITION, they cost me like $2- $10. In an open area space fill it with a cool poster until you find something else to put there, I didn't spend alot on this collection, it looks like I spent a fortune. I have two kids, and saving money is always in my mind, I doubt I'm going to have this collection for long though, but it's nice to cherish for the moment.
Jery
PS, I'm always on the look out for damaged stuff, just a little sculpty putty, and paint, it's as good as new as long it's not played with.
<< <i>The office isn't that big, it's just 1 room and a 1/2 basically the collection just sits in a lounge area, about 250 sq ft.

I never get tired of seeing this display/collection!
I recently saw a guy with a basement full of great vending and pin ball machines and stuff - but it lacks the "feel" your collection exudes!
It's the best I have seen!
I give a 10! Best of show!!!!
mike
seeing the sticks setting there on the side brought to mind an item I just saw this week...
(without trying to sound like a commercial)
here's a nice looking way to show hockey sticks:
Hockey Stick Display
How I found these was through Ebay, if you're not satisfied with just buying a display, you can just drop $15K and OWN the whole nine yards, royalties and all:
Ebay - Hockey Stick Display patent ownership
- Pittsburgh Maulers President Paul Martha, whose USFL club folded after one season.
Thanks Steve If i can get it to work that is !!

Absolutly awesome! I am not a Star Wars fan but I can appreciate such a large and well displayed collection.

I got it from Ikea a few years back.
Jery, I agree with Mike.. I never get tired of seeing your display. It's incredible. Have you ever been featured in a magazine like ToyFair (i think it's called or anything?)

Ha! Yeah. Here's a close up of the ball and the 55 Mantle which has another Mantle under it. (I need a new display case soon or something)
snow white all around.

<< <i>The only sportscards I have left . I have spent years trying to find the perfect display case

I'm love Star Wars the movies and comic books, but don't collect any of the figures or memoribilia. What really impresses me is how neat and organized the collection is. Congrats on the best display I've ever seen.
Yeah, I actually sent Toyfair a copy of my photos once, but it never made the issue, however I did get in a magazine called Combo which was kind of cool. I once made a speeder bike costume and entered it in the Toyfair's sister magazine called Wizard Magazine, I won 3rd place. I was trying for the HDTV Plasma 56 inch tv but didn't get it, I just won a bunch of neat collectors junk. It was fun to try and be famous for a short time....lol.
Here's a picture of that article. Wizard Magazine Issue #63
Enjoy

Heres a photo of me the following year! I was trying to win a Giant screen tv with a fully loaded Play station 2. I didn't win squat, I was just reading the magazine one day and then all of a sudden I noticed they printed my photo in the magazine as a sense of humor....I must have laughed my head off when I saw it...
Being famous for a short time is kind of fun!

Turok the Dinosaur hunter.
I saw a special on TLC one time about people and their collections, this guy had a vault full of Star Wars stuff. Room after room just packed full. He said he was on his second mortgage buying all this stuff up and his wife had absolutely no problem with it. At least that's what he said in front of the cameras. That wasn't you was it?
Just thought I would share that story. I didn't feel nearly as bad about my collecting habits when I learned he was on mortgage numero dos.
Travis
PS - That special also did a piece on Penny Marshall's baseball collection. Holy cripes!

This photo here, looks cool from a distance, but if you look very carefully at it, they are all Taco bell toys which you get with a kids meal, and most I picked up at a flea market.
The collectibles I really like the best are the food premium items, the cereal boxes, candy boxes, those many people don't collect, but to me those bring out the collection. All the collectors may have all the figures and toys, they will probley never go up in value because everyone's keeping them MINT. But nobody's keeping those cereal boxes and food perishables in their collection, I think thats what makes the collection unique.
