    I like errors too! I've never seen one like that before, but I imagine it's easier with that layered-metal coin.

    There's also a die crack through the oak sapling on the reverse.

    I believe it has to do with the planchet metal not being properly prepared, don't hold me to that answer, it's just a wag.

    Well you should try for a Colombian 10 pesos gold of 1858. I've been trying to buy one WITHOUT a lamination error but they almost always come with these defects.
    I collect Ancients and early Independence Era Latin American.
