Do people read Tuff Stuff?

The SCD link has inspired me to ask this question: Do you read Tuff Stuff?

I personally enjoy it make more than Beckett.

What about everyone else?

  • My subscription lapsed in February and I didn't renew. Many of the articles that appear in Tuff Stuff also appear in SCD and I can only take so much advertising. It just didn't make much sense to have both Tuff Stuff and SCD. In the end I didn't feel it was worth it. image

I subscribe. The only articles I read faithfully are On Your Side thats about it.I flip through the prices occasionally.
Doesnt really seem to cater to the older material collector too much, mostly recent stuff.I will probably let mine run out this cycle.
I think for what its worth it is very informative for anyone thats into the New Issues of product. The only new issues I have intrest in are the Heritage and Archive Issues.

When Tuff Stuff got purchased by Krause, a conflict occurred.

As Scott has said, same stuff as in SCD.

Now, having said that, it is so cheap that I don't mind getting it in order to have the price guide all in one place.

Tuff Stuff will be attempting to sure up some of that image problem and is adding Upper Deck insert sheets over the coming months in order to get kids excited about the publication again.

I miss Tony Galovich's presence at Tuff Stuff. TJ Schwartz doesn't report as much "on your side" stuff has he used to.

But, if you have a problem and contact him, he will help you out. He has a shop in CA, I believe, called Porky's?

If you don't want to put out the buck a week for SCD, I think the buck a month Tuff Stuff is a good alternative but not as detailed.

BTW, there will always be criticism of SCD, but for the money, it can't be beat.

I do buy it from time to time. It lacks information on older cards, but its good for newer stuff, and the occasional article or two.

I miss the Beckett Vintage monthly, as that covered more topics that I was interested in.
    Looking for Carl Willey items.

I read Tuff Stuff. It's like an old friend - same with SCD. I enjoy the TJ Schwartz column, although I don't always agree with him. I too miss the Tony Galovich column.
  • I like looking at the pictures image

  • Actually, Tuff Stuff has plenty of vintage card pricing with different sets that Beckett's monthly doesn't have. They revamped the vintage stuff about a year ago and the pricing is just as good as Beckett too. The card sheets are reason enough to subscribe - they'll be worth much more than a subscription costs.
  • For the price SCD and Tuff Stuff can't be beat. If you just pick up a few bits of knowledge a year it is well worth it! In this competitive hobby, the people who do the extra research win in the long run!!
