Bust Quarter Opinion Wanted

Opinions please. Is this something that would grade or bb for cleaning? I can't tell for sure if it has been cleaned, no swirls or polish marks under a 15x. In hand it does not have the golden hue that the pic shows. I picked it up recently for my 7070. Also, AU55 or 58?

Thanks

The 2 hits on the rev above the eagles neck should not be the same hue as the surrounding field.

I can't say this one way or another without seeing it in hand... it could possibly be the manner the picture was taken... as long as it isn't hairlined and obviously cleaned, I could call this one a AU55... image

Could be polished, but still a real nice coin.

my comments are on the other forum... and will appear here shortly

Without question it has been enhanced and while the details may look attractive, the surfaces look as if they have been impaired to the point where a BB is in order. I sincerely hope that the reverse has more glare and the reflection is not an indication of the impairment of the fields... the reverse is very problematic based upon the image.

    Polished. A certain bodybag.

It looks like it was buffed.....bodybag.

  • May be the pictures, but i cant remember ever seeing so much relief on a bust quarter. Looks to be 'Lightly' polished, could be much worse. Definantly a candidate for a pocket piece to remove the polished look.

I will not comment on the market acceptability in the eyes of TPGs, but that coin is not for me. Too dipped out or otherwise cleaned. On the bright side, the strike is absolutely hammered...Mike

Cleaned and way too white, but a technical grade of au55....

I think it will look wonderful in your 7070 album.

  • Thanks for the comments folks. I figured it was cleaned, I paid around wholesale for it. It's really pleasing to look at in hand. I think the lighting washed it out a bit; it is not real bright and the surfaces are not real reflective as the reverse photo indicates.

    Thanks again.

Cleaned, yes. Technical grade of AU 58.

Polished ? Gotta inspect it closer than the monitor screen.

Good canidate for a 7070. Nice example overall.
