? on PCGS Turnaround times

On Feb. 4 I submitted 5 coins to PCGS for grading through the Regular service.
The turnaround period is 15 business days guaranteed but ive heard on this forum
that some people have waited over 2 months to get there coins back.
This is my first time using PCGS . It's been over 1 month since i sent them in.
When do you think i will get my coins back?

You will get them back when PCGS gets around to grading yours and sends them back. They will enter them into the system when there is a high probability of getting them done within the 15 business days.

To me, it looks like March 6 your submission should have been ready. There was a show Feb 8-10 with blackout dates. Then the week of Feb 27 they had an invitational and were out Tuesday through Thursday.

    Feb 6 - Day 1
    Feb 7 - Day 2
    Feb13-17 - Days 3-7
    Feb 20-24 - Days 8-12
    Feb 27 - Day 13
    Mar 3 - Day 14
    Mar 6 - Day 15
    Mar 7 - Day 16

This all changes, however, if they were freebies or if you went with the photo service. Then all bets are off.

I'd call and just check with customer service.

Editted to add assuming that they ENTERED on Feb. 4. When did they enter them into the system?

The first thing we need to know is what date was your order entered in their system?
    My Lincoln Registry
    My Collection of Old Holders

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
  • I found out that my 5 coins were put into the system on 2/18/06.

That was a saturday so day 1 will be monday the 20th. They should have a little utility similar to cert numbers and submission numbers with all of the blackout days already ciphered in so that you could enter in any date and the system will tell you the date that any particular guarantee is due. Webmaster? Do you have your ears on?

Does PCGS have people working on blackout dates back at the base? My coins were entered into the system on Feb. 8 which was a blackout date..

The 15 business day turnaround guarantee does not include the day it was entered, but the clock starts ticking the day AFTER it was entered.

I have 8 coins in on the same day - if we don't get them soon, we will end up getting vouchers for more equivalent submissions (I think)
  • My last submission ($30 Regular) was entered in to the system on 02/09/06 (Thursday). The next day was a black-out day, so the clock started ticking on Monday, 02/13/06. The results were emailed to me at EOD exactly 15 business days later (Friday, 03/03/06). Can't imagine why some people's are graded on time and other (logged in earlier) take longer. I would think they'd have a first in/first out system for each tier. Also, did you put the type of submission on the outside of your package?

If yours were entered on the 18th I think they should have been ready with black out dates on the 13th. If you are not in a hurry I would not push it for another week so you can guarantee yourself 5 vouchers for free regular service grading. It more than makes up for the wait.

I submitted 5 coins on Feb 27th and they shipped yesterday. I guess they are getting tired of giving me vouchers as you only get them if you call and complain. image
