I just hate scratched PSA holders from sellers!!!!

More often then not when I get slabs from ebay there always seems to light scratches and scuff marks on the holders, what the hell are you sellers doing with these holder to get them this way.Lucky for me I have a few bottles of Scratch Away that I got from PGS Coins and Collectibles a few years ago.It works great glad I can get rid of most of the ugly scratches and scuffs.Nothing worse then having to look past the scratches and scuffs to look at a card.If this person still sells this stuff if someone could post the web site Iam sure there has to be other collectors out there that could use this stuff.image

  • It may not always be the sellers fault. I have gotten newly graded cards directly from PSA that were scratched. Not sure how that can happen, but I have had it happen to me more than once.

I was just thinking the other night if there was anything to remove the scratches. I have to admit, it is rather disappointing to get scuffed slabs. I to have got them from ebay and psa that way.

I have had holders come directly from PSA with scratches as well as smudges on the inside of the holders.

  • Well thanks for the responses, glad the scratch away stuff does wonders.I should go back to asking the seller if the holder has any scratches on them ,then I will know what I get.image

Novus 2 works great and with one container of it, you've got a lifetime supply.

Here's a link to their website : Novus

Funny you should mention this because I just spent a couple hours cleaning up a bunch of slabs I'm going to auction off.

Was thinking I'm doing all this work and nobody will even notice.
Probably not, but they'd sure as heck notice if they received them all scratched up and dirty ... image

    Goo Gone.

But I agree: I hate getting scratched holders - especially from PSA.

I hate getting scratched up holders too. I get them from 4 sharp corners. When I called them on it, they said to send them back. The problem with that is, it is not worth it for me to spend the shipping money--that inconveniences me more. I rather have them compensate me for my troubles--that would be better and the decent thing to do. I did not send the cards back and I doubt I'll do business with them again.

One other time, the seller was holding feedback hostage and did not care I got a scratched up holder. I wanted to neg him, but he was holding feedback hostage.

I guess with Novus, all this is a mute point.

Not necessarily. It's definitely saved a lot in reholdering fees, but some slabs are just beyond repair. I won a PSA 2 T206 Southern Leaguer the other day and the slab is just trashed. What stinks is that I just sent in my annual reholder invoice so I just busted the card out and am going to send it in with the my next submission (the $8 pre-'53 special). I probably should've contacted the seller, but just didn't feel like dealing with the situation. Which is odd since I kinda enjoy the occasional eBay-related confrontation.

    Yawie,

As a habit, one should always contact the seller when something goes not as expected because some sellers will make you whole. So, you enjoy the occasional ebay confrontation? You probably know how to confront them and say all the right things/threats---I am stuck on one ebay confrontation right now, so I don't like them.

Novus will do the job in the vast majority of cases, unless someone purposefully gouged a holder - in my experience. Sometimes it may even take repeated attempts - but it will work!

I don't make it a habit or anything, but once in a while I kinda enjoy trading barbs - probably because after two retaliatory negs I'm not as protective of my feedback anymore. It's like getting a new bike when you're a kid. Once it gets a first scratch or something, you really don't care as much.

But, yeah, I should've contacted this guy - especially since he still has an unsullied 100 percent rating. Guess I wasn't in the mood last week. The times I have complained about beat-up holders, I've usually received a $5 rebate to pay for a new one.

The worst case was when I bought an '85 Topps Tiffany Clemens from Superior back when they were still part of the CU family. The card arrived in one of the most gawd awful holders I've ever seen. It was like pulling teeth trying to get them to reholder it. "PSA is a freakin' sister company! Why on earth wouldn't you have them reslab it in the first place?!?" They finally did, but the situation was just ridiculous.

Are you saying that you negged this guy for selling you a scratched holder and never even e-mailing him about it?
